Our
purpose as a church here in this valley is to become the Body
of Christ that Jesus so intended for us to be. Our goal is
to be mindful of the fact that Christ could return at any
moment and that we ought to be living our lives in such a
way that when He does return, He finds this church a Bride
that has prepared herself for the Groom to come. Our goal
ought to be to have our minds set on kingdom purposes with
little want for the wood, hay, and stubble this world has
to offer. We ought to be about caring for the lost people
of the world who are as of right now, unaware that they are
in need of a Savior. We ought to be about caring for the poor
and needy, and the meek and lowly. We ought to be about serving
one another, forgiving one another, and caring for each other
in a cooperative manor. We must always evaluate our lives
and lifestyles and begin living our lives with as little hypocrisy
as possible.
As we endeavor to make every effort to accomplish these goals
we can only perform these things by surrendering our will
to the will of the Holy Spirit and to be filled with the Spirit
rather that with ourselves. To fulfill this, we must seek
God on a frequent basis by reading His Word, spending time
in prayer to Him ever surrendering our will, our time, and
our lives so He may accomplish through us, what He longs to
do.
Not to us,
but to God be the Glory.
As Christians
our Goal ought to be:
To be Believers
– Initially we come to believe in Jesus Christ, that
He, is the Son of God. We accomplish that by placing faith
in Him as our Lord and Savior. We have come to realize that
if we do not accept Him as our Savior that we would be destined
to hell, separated from God forever, due to our own sin and
no fault of God’s but our own. By believing, we become
saved from hell, and enter into New Life with Jesus, God’s
dear Son. We believe that Jesus died on the cross for our
sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day thereby
proving His power over death and securing for us eternal life.
To be Disciples
– We should desire within ourselves to be a true disciple
of Jesus by gathering regularly with the Body of Christ (other
believers) with expectant ears to hear the preaching and teaching
of the Word for personal and spiritual growth. We should desire
to extend our relationship with Jesus by the daily reading
of the Word of God, thereby learning how it is God desires
for us to live our lives for Him.
To be Followers
– Since we have desired salvation and have become believers
and have given ourselves to careful study of the Word as disciples,
it ought to be our desire to then apply what we have learned
from the Scriptures in order that we become a true follower
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We must not become just
hearers of the Word, but also doers of the Word. For when
we become doers of the Word then we will come to that place
where Christ longs for us to be, followers who genuinely live
out what they believe who go into a lost and dying world to
preach and teach the gospel and in turn, make disciples.
